Chelsea have opted not to make Jadon Sancho’s loan move from Manchester United permanent, choosing instead to pay a £5 million fee to terminate the £25 million obligation-to-buy clause in their agreement

The decision means Sancho will return to Old Trafford on June 30.
Sancho, 25, spent the 2024–25 season at Stamford Bridge, where he scored five goals and provided eight assists in 41 appearances, including a goal in the UEFA Conference League final against Real Betis.
Despite his contributions, Chelsea and Sancho were unable to agree on personal terms for a permanent transfer. The club was reportedly unwilling to match his £250,000-a-week wage demands.
With Chelsea declining the buy option, Manchester United—now under new manager Ruben Amorim—must decide Sancho’s future. United are said to be open to selling him this summer in order to reinvest funds into their squad. Premier League sides such as West Ham have already been linked with a potential move, while opportunities abroad may also emerge.
Sancho’s return to Manchester United closes one chapter but leaves his immediate future uncertain as he looks to secure regular playing time elsewhere.
