Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko believes Nigerians should give President Bola Tinubu more time before deciding whether his administration has succeeded or failed.
Speaking during an interview with FeelrightnewsTV, the actor said running a country is a gradual process and should not be judged before the results of government policies have had enough time to show.
To explain his point, Kosoko compared leading a nation to putting up a building, saying it makes no sense to score a project that is still under construction.
“If you are building a house, you cannot assess such a building and give it a pass mark until the building is completed.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not God. That means he cannot be perfect”, he said.
Kosoko also argued that many people form opinions based on what they are constantly told by those opposed to the current administration.
He stated:
“Let me tell you, what those opposing Tinubu are projecting for you to say is what you will be saying. What they have crafted that they want you to carry in your head is what you will carry.”
He went on to speak directly about young Nigerians, saying they are often the easiest target for people trying to shape public opinion.
“They know you, Gen Z. You are easy to manipulate and control. Once they control you, you will all go on overdrive”, he noted.
The actor also pushed back against criticism that public figures who support the government are doing so for personal gain. According to him, some people who present themselves as activists also have their own interests, yet supporters of the government are the ones usually accused of being paid.
“The so-called activists, we know how they take money from government but come out to influence citizens. But when we talk, they accuse us of taking money to support the government. As if we don’t have a mind of our own, as if we don’t have family members suffering or as if we are enjoying well,” the veteran actor said.
