Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi has suffered another devastating loss with the d3ath of his eldest son, Abdulwahab Namadi, in a motor accident on Thursday
This tragedy comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his mother, Maryam Namadi, who died on Wednesday after a brief illness.
Abdulwahab was reportedly involved in an accident while traveling from Kafin Hausa to Dutse with friends. The vehicle he was driving lost control and somersaulted. While Abdulwahab lost his life in the crash, some of his friends sustained injuries and are receiving treatment at Dutse General Hospital.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Hamisu Gumel, confirmed the incident in a statement, saying, “With a heavy heart, Governor Umar Namadi announces the passing of his beloved son, Abdulwahab Umar Namadi. The 24-year-old departed this world on Thursday, December 26, 2024, due to a ghastly motor accident along the Dutse-Kafin-Hausa Road.”
He added that the burial rites are being conducted in Kafin Hausa town in accordance with Islamic traditions. Abdulwahab is survived by his parents and several siblings.
The governor’s spokesperson also noted the back-to-back nature of these tragedies, saying, “This tragic incident comes just a day after the governor mourned the passing of his mother, Hajia Maryam Namadi.”
The news has sent shockwaves across the state, with residents expressing their condolences and support for the grieving governor and his family.
