Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has recalled being kicked out of the house because of the difficult decision to pursue acting despite his father’s dream of seeing him become a lawyer
Speaking during an interview with Chude Jideonwo, the actor revealed that after graduating from university at about 18, his father wanted him to immediately attend law school and continue with the plans he had mapped out for his future.

However, Jim Iyke said he rejected the idea because he was convinced acting was his true calling, a decision that led to him being kicked out of the family home.
Reflecting on the experience, Jim Iyke described his father as a resilient man who had endured political setbacks, betrayals and frequent relocations, saying he admired his strength but believed his father failed to understand that same determination had been passed on to him.
“My dad is a very resilient man. I’ve seen him rise and fall so many times. I learned from the best, but he didn’t understand that it’s just the chip off the old block.”, he said.
He added that the values his father instilled in him shaped his unwavering resolve.
“Everything that was taught and ingrained in me was don’t half-ass it, don’t do half measures. If you believe in something, go all the way. You can’t drum that into a son and it won’t become his belief system. So when I saw something I knew was going to be my lifelong pursuit, my convictions were beyond reproach.”, he added.
