The legacy of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, continues to be celebrated, even in d3ath
In a kind gesture, the Enugu state governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has conferred a posthumous award on the talented actor, just a few months after his tragic passing.
The award ceremony, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, was announced on social media by producer Nani Boi, who received the award plaque on behalf of Junior Pope’s family.
Nani Boi expressed his gratitude to the Enugu State Government, stating that Junior Pope’s legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of his fans.
The news of the posthumous award sparked an outpouring of emotions from fans, who remembered the shocking circumstances of Junior Pope’s death. The actor, along with several colleagues, lost his life in a devastating boat collision on April 10, 2024, while returning from a movie shoot in Asaba.
The award is part of the inaugural Nollywood Legends Awards, which aims to honor the contributions of late stars and living legends in the Nigerian film industry. Other late actors who were nominated for the award include John Okafor (Mr. Ibu), Enebeli Elebuwa, Sam Loco, Saint Obi, Moji Olaiya, Ada Ameh, and Muna Obiekwe, among others.
