Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach, Ange Postecoglou
This comes just over two weeks after he led the club to a historic 1–0 victory over Manchester United in the UEFA Europa League final — Spurs’ first major trophy in 17 years and their first European title in over four decades
Despite the high of European success, the club endured a dismal Premier League campaign under Postecoglou’s second season in charge, finishing 17th with just 38 points — their worst-ever tally in the Premier League era. Spurs lost 22 league games, a record for any side that managed to avoid relegation.
Postecoglou, who took over in 2023 following a successful spell at Celtic, had a promising start in North London. His first season saw Tottenham finish fifth in the league, despite losing Harry Kane and dealing with injury setbacks. However, his second season was marred by a lengthy injury crisis and criticism of his unrelenting attacking style, even when results faltered.
According to reports, the decision to dismiss Postecoglou will cost the club around £6.5 million in compensation, as he still had two years left on his contract.
