Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as K1 De Ultimate, has declined to apologise to Islamic clerics (Alfas) after making a controversial remark during his late mother’s Fidau prayer, which many found offensive
In a video clip, K1 was seen speaking with a man while preparing for the 8-day Fidau prayer for his late mother. He used the phrase “Ganusi” to refer to certain Islamic clerics, which many interpreted as suggesting that some Alfas attend such ceremonies mainly for financial gain.
The Fidau prayer, an important Islamic ritual held to honour the deceased, took place on Friday, 24 January, and was attended by notable celebrities and respected clerics, including Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who delivered the sermon.
During his sermon, Sheikh Onikijipa addressed K1’s comment, offering corrections and urging the musician to apologise to the Alfas. However, K1 has stood his ground, insisting that he has done nothing wrong and refusing to issue an apology.
He explained, “To admit guilt means saying, ‘Okay, don’t be angry.’ But there’s no reason for that because I have done nothing wrong. If you admit guilt, you are saying the accusations are true, which they are not.”
