Kano tailor Abdulkadir Hassanul Basari has completed a five-day sewing challenge after spending 120 hours working towards a possible Guinness World Record.

The challenge, organised under the Sew for the Nation initiative, took place at the sports complex of Maryam Abacha American University of Nigeria in Kano between October 7 and October 12, 2026.
Basari, who heads Basri Apparels and Textiles Nigeria Limited, undertook the marathon to demonstrate his tailoring skills while supporting an initiative aimed at providing school uniforms for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The challenge required him to maintain his sewing work throughout the 120-hour period, making it a demanding test of his endurance and dedication to his profession.

Although completing the marathon marks an important milestone in his attempt, Guinness World Records must verify the evidence before any new record can be officially recognised.
