Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has asserted that the recent surge in abductions across Nigeria is an attempt to stop President Bola Tinubu’s government

He drew parallels to a similar tactic used against former President Goodluck Jonathan, though he remains confident that it won’t work against Tinubu.

This statement comes amid a wave of abductions by bandits. In November, bandits attacked the Christ Apostolic Church in Kwara State, abducting worshippers, while in Kano State, gunmen kidnapped 10 people from local communities.

During a meeting with Igbo leaders in Benin City, Okpebholo emphasized that these abductions are politically motivated.

He remarked, “They’re kidnapping people to discourage the President, but he’s steadfast. This tactic was effective against Goodluck Jonathan, but we know their game now.”
