Celebrated Nigerian actor and filmmaker Kunle Afolayan has officially unveiled the KAP Film Village and Resort — a dynamic blend of culture, cinema, and tourism located in the tranquil town of Igbojaye, Komu, within Oyo State’s Itesiwaju Local Government Area
Spread across more than 60 acres of unspoiled terrain, the facility serves a dual purpose as a resort and a film production center. It has already hosted major Netflix productions like Aníkúlápó and Ijogbon, marking it as a significant addition to Nigeria’s expanding film landscape.
At the launch event, Afolayan shared the vision behind the project, emphasizing its roots in preserving indigenous narratives and aiding national development.
“This isn’t just a film location — it’s a destination,” he said. “The KAP Film Village was created to build the country by showcasing creativity driven by purpose and vision.”
The resort boasts culturally themed lodges such as Ire, Ayanladun, and Adelove, designed to reflect the essence of Yoruba tradition. Visitors can enjoy activities like hiking, mountain climbing, and immersive tours of authentic film sets. The lush environment, complete with farm animals and serene greenery, offers a calm escape from urban chaos.
The site has started drawing attention from prominent figures in the entertainment industry and government. Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, praised the initiative during her tour of the facility.
“This is a stunning achievement with immense potential to become a leading cultural and tourism destination in Nigeria,” she noted.
Veteran Nollywood stars including Jide Kosoko and Femi Adebayo have also applauded the project, calling it a milestone for the industry.
Despite its success, Afolayan pointed out lingering infrastructural issues such as unreliable power and poor road access.
“We’ve made it this far with little government input, but moving forward, we’ll need support — particularly with roads and electricity,” he said.
With the creation of the KAP Film Village, Afolayan hasn’t just expanded the horizons of Nigerian filmmaking — he’s built a cultural haven that honors and elevates the country’s creative spirit.
