The Kwara State Police Command has confirmed that Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, widely known as Portable, is in custody over allegations of criminal defamation and threats to life

In a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the arrest followed a petition submitted by Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly referred to as “Osupa.”
“The suspect was arrested following a petition received from one Mr. Okunola Saheed, popularly known as ‘Osupa,’” the statement read.
The police disclosed that the petition contained multiple serious allegations, including threat to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to incite public unrest, as well as the use of abusive and insulting language.
“In light of the severity of the claims and the evidence provided, the command obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the statement added.
Acting on the warrant, police operatives from the Kwara State Command travelled to Abeokuta, Ogun State, and apprehended Portable on Saturday at approximately 7:25 p.m.
Ejire-Adeyemi confirmed that the arrest was carried out in the presence of legal representatives from both parties involved. She further noted that the singer remains in custody, with plans already underway to charge him to court.
The police urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading false or unverified information, assuring that further updates will be provided as the case progresses.
