The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) has concluded plans to introduce specially designed number plates to identify and recognize People Living With Disabilities

Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, made the announcement on Tuesday during the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held to mark Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office for his second term.
Osiyemi said the initiative supports the inclusion pillar of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s THEMES Plus Agenda.
Reviewing LSNPPA’s achievements from May 2024 to March 2025, the commissioner revealed the agency produced 218,400 standard number plates for private and commercial vehicles. It also manufactured 716 custom fancy plates, 347 motorcycle fancy plates, and 224 out-of-series plates based on special requests.
In addition, the agency produced 11,152 replacement standard plates, 212 motorcycle replacements, 63 fancy plate replacements, 428 official plates, 1,510 dealer plates, and 4,000 plates for articulated vehicles.
Osiyemi described the LSNPPA as the production arm of the state responsible for manufacturing number plates, as well as aluminum-based road furniture to support infrastructure and aesthetic goals.
He also said the agency is working with the Federal Road Safety Corps to develop new plates aligned with “Go Green” environmental initiatives.
Addressing concerns over fading plates, Osiyemi noted that high-quality materials are used but warned against using corrosive car cleaning products. He added that, like humans, number plates have a lifespan and should be replaced when necessary.
