Joan Laporta has pledged that FC Barcelona will become “unstoppable” after winning re-election as the club’s president for another five-year term

Laporta secured just over 68 percent of the vote, defeating rival Victor Font, who received close to 30 percent. The remaining ballots were either void or invalid. His new term will officially begin on July 1, according to the club.

The 63-year-old, who initially took office again in March 2021, stepped down last month in line with club statutes to contest the election. Following his victory, Laporta described the outcome as overwhelming and said it gives the club renewed strength.

“It makes us unstoppable. No-one will stop us. Exciting years lie ahead. They will be the best of our lives,” he said.

Laporta previously served as Barcelona’s president between 2003 and 2010, a period that included the appointment of Pep Guardiola as head coach and one of the club’s most successful eras.

He thanked club members for participating in the election, describing the process as a celebration of democracy and civic engagement within the Catalan giants.

In his victory speech, Laporta promised to continue defending the club’s interests while strengthening the first team and completing the redevelopment of the iconic Camp Nou stadium.

A total of nearly 48,500 members voted in the election, representing a turnout of 42.34 percent. Laporta received 32,934 votes, while Font secured 14,385.
