Arrangements for the funeral of the One Direction singer Liam Payne are nearing completion, with plans underway to repatriate his body to the UK for a large-scale service.
Investigators in Buenos Aires, where the 31-year-old passed away under “unexplained” circumstances, are expected to release his body to his grieving father, Geoff, this week.
British consulate officials have also prepared for the repatriation.
Once Liam’s body is returned to the UK, a formal announcement will follow regarding a grand funeral, which is expected to draw hundreds of mourners.
“Liam’s body is expected to be flown home any day now,” a close friend of the former One Direction star had said.
“Arrangements are in place for that now, and once he’s back in Britain, the next step will be to announce the funeral plan.”
A remembrance service, expected to be held in a large cathedral, will likely take place a few days after his body arrives in the UK.
The friend added, “Liam will have a very big send-off, quite probably at a large cathedral somewhere close to his heart.”
