Liverpool have officially completed the signing of German midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a club-record deal worth up to £116 million

The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2030. The transfer includes a guaranteed £100 million fee, with an additional £16 million in performance-related add-ons.
Wirtz joins Liverpool after a standout season with Leverkusen, where he scored 16 goals and provided 15 assists across all competitions. He is also a regular for the German national team, earning 31 caps to date.
His arrival comes as part of a busy transfer window for Liverpool under new manager Arne Slot, who has already welcomed former Leverkusen teammate Jeremie Frimpong, as well as Milos Kerkez and goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
Wirtz now becomes the most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history, surpassing the £85 million paid for Darwin Núñez in 2022.
