Manchester United began their Europa League journey with a disappointing 1-1 draw against FC Twente at Old Trafford

Despite dominating the match, United failed to secure maximum points due to their inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
United started strong, with Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen testing Twente’s defense. Eriksen scored in the 35th minute, netting his third goal in two games, after pouncing on a loose ball in the box.
However, Twente regained momentum in the second half, applying sustained pressure on United. Sem Steijn’s clever free-kick nearly caught Andre Onana off guard, but the goalkeeper adjusted well to parry the danger.
United struggled to regain momentum, and Twente capitalized on their complacency. Sam Lammers equalized in the 68th minute, dispossessing Eriksen and scoring past Onana.
In response, manager Erik ten Hag made a triple substitution, introducing Mason Mount, Kobbie Mainoo, and Rasmus Højlund. Despite this, United couldn’t regain their lead, settling for a draw.
