The incident, which has sparked outrage and debate on social media, occurred at As-Salam Convalescent Hospital in Lagos.

In the video, a visibly emotional Folajimi said he was devastated to hear the hospital deny asking for money before treating his wife.

“I was shocked to hear that the hospital denied asking me for N500,000 before they could treat my wife. I cried and begged them passionately to treat her. I told them I would go out and raise the money, but they refused. If they want to sue me, I’m ready,” he said.

He explained that he didn’t record the initial moments of his plea to the hospital staff but began filming after they returned to their car. Addressing the backlash he’s received online, Folajimi said:

“A lot of people have criticized me on social media. Some said, ‘Why did you get her pregnant if you didn’t have money?’ Others even accused me of using her for money rituals. It’s nobody’s fault. But if I’m lying against the hospital, may God judge me.”

Folajimi also alleged that the hospital’s owner, whom he described as an Alfa, lacks compassion and the fear of God.

“The owner of the hospital is an Alfa and he doesn’t fear God. That hospital will eventually shut down. I lost my wife because of N500,000—all because I didn’t have the money. Nigeria happened to me,” he added.

Meanwhile, As-Salam Convalescent Hospital has denied the allegations. The hospital’s management said the late Kemi required emergency attention beyond their facility’s capabilities and that they referred her to a general hospital without requesting any payment.

  1. Hospitals have no empathy at all especially govt hospitals. They can’t attend to you if you don’t have money
