The corpse of an 11-year-old girl was recovered from the scene by emergency responders on Sunday.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident while responding to inquiries about the rescue operation at the scene of the tragedy.
He said, “The rescue operation is ongoing but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”
Punch gathered that there were people in the mosque when it suddenly caved in during afternoon prayers.
While some people escaped from the incident, others, who were unlucky, got trapped under the rubble.
