President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has responded to the mockery surrounding his recent “kundusi” blunder, saying he may be poor at English but has successfully raised highly educated children oversea

In a viral video on Tuesday, Akinsanya addressed NURTW delegates, admitting that he never received formal education, which affects how he speaks English. However, he emphasized that he made sure his children got the best education and now hold citizenships in the United States and the United Kingdom.
“I didn’t go to school, I joined the transport business and started from the bottom as a bus conductor,” he said. “Now, my children can express themselves better than most people mocking me. They are highly educated, and I trained them properly with money I worked hard for.”
The controversy began after MC Oluomo mistakenly pronounced “kudos” as “kundusi” while praising the efforts of union members in Abuja. The clip went viral, sparking widespread ridicule.
Reacting to the backlash, he said, “‘Kundusi!’ So what? There’s too much grammar everywhere. Grammar won’t fix Nigeria. I may not speak English well, but I understand Yoruba.”
He went on to highlight his rise through the ranks in the union. “From bus conductor to treasurer, to chairman, to national president. I worked hard to get here. I am not educated, but I earned my position.”
Akinsanya also made a humorous reference, asking, “So they’re laughing at me for saying ‘kundusi’? Isn’t my child’s name Qudus? And you, with all your education, what have you achieved?”
His children have often defended him publicly. In 2022, his son, known as King West on Instagram, slammed critics who called his father a tout, writing, “If my father was your father, you would never lack love, care, or protection. Get a father like mine.”
