Adelabu vows to restore power to North within 72 Hours

This announcement comes after a widespread power outage affected the North-East, North-West, and parts of North-Central Nigeria.

The outage resulted from vandalism of the Shiroro-Kaduna transmission line by insurgents, confirmed by Nafisatu Ali, Executive Director of the Independent System Operator. President Bola Tinubu has deployed military personnel to safeguard repair workers.

Adelabu outlined a temporary solution: utilizing the Ugwuaji-Makurdi transmission line to supply power to approximately 80% of affected states. Ongoing collaboration with security agencies aims to access and repair damaged lines.

The Minister expects temporary power supply to be restored within three days and full restoration to be completed within 14 days.

“We’re working with security agencies to reclaim the grid from vandals,” Adelabu assured. “Repairs will be completed within 14 days, fully restoring power to the North.”
