Mohbad’s close friend, Owodunni Ibrahim, popularly known as Primeboy, has opened up for the first time in a tell-all interview with activist VeryDarkMan, addressing widespread speculation about his alleged role in the late singer’s tragic death
“I Never Touched Mohbad”
Speaking during the interview, Primeboy strongly denied ever hitting or hurting Mohbad during their last public appearance together.
“I never touched or hit Mohbad at the show. There was no fight, and there was no glass cut as people are claiming.”
He explained that after Mohbad’s performance that night, the singer was in a hurry to leave the venue. While still in the car, some area boys gathered outside, and Mohbad insisted on stepping out to meet them.
“I told him not to go. I even asked Wunmi, his wife, to talk to him, but she said, ‘Isn’t he your friend? You should talk to him yourself.’”
According to Primeboy, Mohbad got out of the car, approached his side, opened the door, and asked him to come down. When he noticed Mohbad was visibly upset, he apologized for interfering in his personal issues with Wunmi.
“I told him I was sorry for poking my nose into his family matter, but he insisted I should get down.”
What Happened at the Show
Primeboy said he stepped out of the car and went straight to Cubana Chief Priest on stage to explain what had happened.
“I told Cubana that I was only trying to settle a fight between Mohbad and his wife in the car, but he got upset. Cubana told me to stay on stage while he went to check, but before I knew it, everyone had left.”
The following day, Primeboy reached out to Wunmi to retrieve his bag that was left in the car, but she told him not to come around. That was the last time he had any form of contact.
The Shocking News
Primeboy recounted the moment he found out Mohbad had died:
“On Tuesday, I was sleeping when a friend woke me up and said Mohbad was dead. I was confused. I called his dad immediately, and he said he was on his way to the house.”
In a viral video from that day, voices could be heard shouting “Mohbad is dead.” Primeboy said he recognized a man with dreadlocks named Adewest, a known associate of the singer, though he said he didn’t know his specific role or job.
“Why Was I Arrested?”
Primeboy expressed deep frustration over his arrest and detention.
“I don’t know why they arrested me. They declared me wanted without even inviting me first. Even while I was in the cell, police officers kept saying I had no hand in Mohbad’s death.”
He spent four months behind bars, a period he says caused him great emotional and reputational damage.
“This really damaged me. I knew nothing about what happened to Mohbad.
