Comedian and social commentator Freedom Atsepoyi, popularly known as Mr Jollof, has criticised former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege over his recent comments about the 2027 general elections in Delta State.
Mr Jollof said comments of that nature could encourage people to take the law into their own hands, especially at a time when political tensions are already high.
He stressed that nobody has the constitutional right to take another person’s life, regardless of whether the person is involved in election rigging.
According to him, any allegation of electoral malpractice should be handled through the law rather than violence.
He said:
“Nobody get the constitutional right to take the life of anybody even if the person dey rig election. Na the law go take its course. As e no favour you now na do-or-d!e affair.
“So, sir, don’t preach something that shouldn’t be preached. The way things are now, our people can be overzealous. Someone may not even be rigging an election; the person could just be walking by, or someone might be angry because you don’t belong to the same political party.
” They could end up k+lling that person and claiming it was because of election rigging.
“So, when you dey make some kind statements as a senator and elder statesman, at your age, e get some kind talk wey you no suppose talk o..”
Mr Jollof’s criticism followed Omo-Agege’s warning to anyone planning to manipulate the outcome of the 2027 general elections in Delta State. The former Deputy Senate President made the statement while addressing supporters during a campaign event in Uvwie Local Government Area, where he warned that anyone caught rigging the election should be prepared to face serious consequences.
He reportedly used the phrase “rig and d!e” to stress that he would not tolerate electoral malpractice, adding that there would be no court this time and that they were ready to fight.
