Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has reaffirmed his administration’s stance against negotiating with bandits, insisting that only genuine peace efforts will be entertained
Speaking in Katsina while inaugurating 100 new members of the Community Watch Corps (C-Watch), Radda said his government remains fully committed to restoring lasting peace and security across the state.

He recalled the early challenges faced when the C-Watch initiative was launched two years ago, noting that his administration’s resolve to end banditry has never wavered.
“I have publicly maintained that the government will not negotiate with bandits but will always welcome peace,” he said. “I campaigned on this promise, and the trust of the people will not be betrayed.”
The governor explained that the Katsina Model is a community-led peace approach that empowers affected communities to engage repentant bandits willing to surrender their weapons, while the state provides guidance and support.
“Our role is to sustain the peace process while ensuring law and order,” Radda said. “Communities that achieve peace must also see development benefits, so that our people can live with dignity.”
He highlighted the positive outcomes of the initiative, citing that Jibia had enjoyed eight months without a major attack and Batsari seven months of calm. Other local government areas such as Danmusa, Safana, Faskari, and Sabuwa have also experienced improved security, he added.
Radda emphasized that security operations by federal forces remain vital, warning that anyone who returns to criminality will face the full force of the law.
“This ceremony shows that the state government will not relent in tackling insecurity and banditry wherever they exist,” he declared.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasir Mu’azu, also praised the governor’s leadership, describing his approach as a “homegrown solution” that has significantly reduced insecurity.
He revealed that the latest inauguration marks the third phase of C-Watch training, with the new recruits—50 each—set to be deployed to Kankia and Dutsin-Ma Local Government Areas.
