Minister of Finance, Wale Edun makes first public appearance at London Art fair amid health concerns
Contrary to recent reports about his health, the Minister was spotted looking healthy and in high spirits during a visit to London

Edun attended the 1-54 London Art Fair on Wednesday, October 15, where he stopped by the O’DA Art Gallery booth at Somerset House. In a video shared online, the gallery’s founder and creative director, Obida Obioha, was seen guiding the minister through the exhibition and engaging him in conversations about the featured artworks.
This public appearance comes after speculation that the minister had suffered a stroke or was seriously ill—claims the presidency earlier dismissed as false.
Obioha later expressed his delight at hosting Edun, saying, “It was a pleasure to welcome the Honourable Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to the O’DA Art Gallery booth at the 1-54 London Art Fair. We walked him through our presentation, Lines of Spirit, which features Simon Ojeaga, Paul Majek, and Afeez Onakoya — artists exploring the intersections of form, rhythm, and transcendence in contemporary African abstraction.”
He added that the exhibition reflects O’DA’s mission to promote artists who broaden visual expression while staying rooted in identity, memory, and community.
