Former Vice President Namadi Sambo has debunked reports claiming he has left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC)

The speculation gained traction after a photo of Sambo with Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, began circulating online, fueling rumors of a defection. However, in a statement issued Thursday by his media adviser, Umar Sani, Sambo firmly denied the claims, calling them false and misleading.
According to Sani, the widely shared photo is not recent but was taken years ago during a condolence visit by Governor Uba Sani to Sambo’s Abuja residence following the death of his brother, Sani Sambo. He described the use of the photo as a deliberate attempt to misinform the public.
“For the avoidance of doubt, His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo remains a loyal and committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party,” the statement read. “He has no intention whatsoever of joining any other political party.”
Sani also clarified that Sambo’s scheduled appearance at the commissioning of a 300-bed hospital in Kaduna—a project initiated during his time in office—should not be interpreted as a political endorsement or indication of a party switch.
He described the defection story as a fabrication intended to cause confusion and gain cheap political advantage.
