National Assembly postpones Plenary resumption to March 5

The National Assembly has rescheduled its plenary resumption, moving it from Tuesday, February 24, 2026, to Thursday, March 5, 2026

The change was announced on Monday in a statement signed by the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana. The postponement aims to give committees more time to complete ongoing budget defence sessions with ministries, departments, and agencies.

The statement read: “This is to inform Distinguished Senators and Honourable Members of the National Assembly that the plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 24th February 2026 has been postponed to enable committees to conclude ongoing budget defence exercises.

“Plenary will now reconvene in both chambers on Thursday, 5th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Members are requested to take note of the revised date and time.”

The rescheduling comes as lawmakers continue detailed scrutiny of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, with several committees still engaging government agencies to ensure thorough budget evaluation.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are expected to resume plenary proceedings promptly at 11:00 a.m. on the new date. The National Assembly leadership expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and urged all members to take note of the revised schedule.
