Senator Ned Nwoko has pushed back against claims made by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, over access to their children, maintaining that she was not barred from seeing them and that her absence was a personal decision

According to Nwoko, the issue has already been settled by a court, which ruled that Daniels must undergo rehabilitation and be evaluated by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before regaining access to the children.

In a statement released Tuesday on his X account by his communications team, Nwoko accused Daniels of misrepresenting the situation online, describing her recent posts as inconsistent with how the family has traditionally operated.

“The recent posts by Regina present a version of events that is both misleading and inconsistent with long-established family practice. Publicly sharing moments involving the children has never been new, unusual, or controversial within the family,” the statement read.

The senator also dismissed suggestions that Daniels had been deliberately excluded from her children’s lives, calling such claims “equally misleading,” while stressing that the children have continued to live in a stable and carefully structured environment focused on their wellbeing.

“Children deserve a parent who is emotionally present, mentally sound, and sober most of the time. This is not an unreasonable expectation; it is the minimum standard of care any parent owes their children,” the statement added.

Nwoko’s response followed a post made by Daniels on Monday, where she spoke openly about the emotional toll of being separated from her children, insisting that no mother could find peace under such circumstances. She expressed hope of reuniting with them soon, writing:

“I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum. I will definitely see my kids soon!”

Addressing the legal aspect of the dispute, Nwoko reiterated that the court had ruled in his favour, stating that Daniels must first meet specific conditions before access can be restored.

“The ruling was resolved in favour of Senator Ned Nwoko, with clear directions that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before access can be restored to Munir (5) and Khalifa (3), the children of the marriage.

“The matter has been adjourned to 4 February 2026 for hearing of the substantive suit.”

He further cautioned that Daniels’ continued online commentary risked dragging the children into unresolved personal issues, warning against “using the children as emotional shields to deflect from unresolved personal issues.”

Nwoko concluded by urging compliance with the court’s directives, saying the focus should remain on recovery and personal stability.

“It is our hope that this window of quietude will be used for healing and recovery, rather than generating another cycle of online attention.”
