Newcastle responds to Alexander Isak’s social media outburst

Newcastle United has addressed striker Alexander Isak’s recent claims that the club failed to honor promises regarding his future

Isak, in an Instagram post on Tuesday night, expressed frustration, alleging that trust had been broken and that his relationship with the Magpies could not continue.

He wrote:

“I’ve kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn’t reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue. That’s where things are for me right now – and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself.”

In response, Newcastle stressed that no agreement had been made to let Isak leave this summer. The club said in a statement on its official website:

“We are clear in response that Alex remains under contract and that no commitment has ever been made by a club official that Alex can leave Newcastle United this summer. We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. The conditions of a sale this summer have not transpired, and we do not foresee those conditions being met.”

Despite recent reports of Isak being left out of matchday squads, Newcastle emphasized that the 24-year-old remains an important part of their plans. “Alex remains part of our family and will be welcomed back when he is ready to rejoin his teammates,” the club added.

The Swedish striker, who joined Newcastle in 2022 and quickly became one of Eddie Howe’s key attackers, has been at the center of transfer speculation, including a rejected bid from Liverpool. The standoff has fueled uncertainty over his participation in the remainder of the season and the final weeks of the transfer window.
