Nicki Minaj drew a clear line on transgender issues, saying she supports adults making their own choices but strongly opposes gender-affirming surgeries for minors.
In footage obtained from her sit-down with Katie Miller, Nicki shares that she has “no problem” with transgender adults and believes grown people should have full autonomy over their bodies, adding “more power to them.”
‘I personally don’t have an issue with the trans part of the LGBT at all … I am the biggest advocate for adults being able to do whatever the heck they want to do. They’re adults. I don’t care.” She said
However, she says the situation changes entirely when children are involved. Nicki explains that she strongly opposes minors undergoing gender-affirming surgeries, calling it a “different ballgame” compared to decisions made by adults.
To illustrate her point, Nicki brings up her own family, saying she wouldn’t allow her 17-year-old daughter to get a breast augmentation.
“I wouldn’t even allow my 17-year-old daughter to get breast implants … So if you wouldn’t let a child get breast implants, you’re not going to want them to have any kind of surgery because we all know the brain is not developed.” She added
From her perspective, she struggles to understand how any parent could consent to their child having surgery to transition genders, and she goes on to outline why she believes such decisions should wait until adulthood.
