American rapper Nicki Minaj has shared insights into her collaboration with Afrobeats sensation Davido on her track “If It’s Okay.”

Responding to a fan’s question on X, Nicki revealed that she invited Davido to join the song to imbue it with an authentic Afrobeats rhythm.
Nicki praised Davido’s talent as both a writer and a melody creator, highlighting the mutual respect they share. She explained that his contribution was essential to capturing the essence of Afrobeats and showcasing Nigerian music on a global stage.
“If It’s Okay” is featured on the 10th-anniversary special edition of Nicki Minaj’s iconic album The Pinkprint. This commemorative edition includes four brand-new tracks, featuring collaborations with artists such as Swae Lee, David Guetta, Davido, and the late Juice WRLD.
This project also marks a reunion for Nicki and Davido, who previously teamed up on the track “Holy Ground” from Davido’s 2020 album A Better Time.
