Vice President Kashim Shettima has announced that President Bola Tinubu has approved the immediate release of ₦2 billion for the reconstruction of homes destroyed by the recent flood in Mokwa, Niger State

Shettima made the disclosure during his visit to the devastated community, where he met with victims and assessed the widespread destruction caused by the flood, which claimed over 200 lives and displaced hundreds of residents on May 28, 2025.
During the visit, Shettima also revealed that President Tinubu had authorised the release of 20 trucks of rice to support affected families, adding that the federal government remains fully committed to helping the community recover.
“The President’s heart is with the people of Mokwa,” Shettima assured. “He has directed the immediate reconstruction of homes, repair of damaged bridges, and rehabilitation of drainage systems in the town to prevent future disasters.”
The Vice President reaffirmed the administration’s resolve to respond swiftly to emergencies and provide long-term solutions for vulnerable communities. He emphasized that all issues affecting the victims would be addressed promptly under President Tinubu’s directive.
