The Nigerian Army has reportedly arrested a soldier attached to its Aviation Hangar in Minna, Niger State, after he was seen begging for money during a TikTok live session while wearing his military uniform.
The soldier was said to have joined the live broadcast wearing his military uniform while speaking with popular content creator King Pedro. During their conversation, he reportedly opened up about his situation and asked for financial assistance.
As they spoke, King Pedro asked the soldier about his service. The soldier explained that he had been in the Nigerian Army for five years and was currently posted to Niger State.
King Pedro then asked if he had eaten.
The soldier responded, “Yes sir, I have not eaten.”
Instead of sending him money, King Pedro expressed disappointment that the soldier chose to ask for help while dressed in uniform. He told him the military uniform should not be worn for that purpose and cautioned that the decision could have consequences.
According to a military source, the live session was brought to the attention of military authorities shortly afterwards, leading to the soldier’s reported arrest. The source added that the army viewed his appearance in uniform while requesting financial assistance online as a disciplinary matter.
