Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mary Remmy Njoku has expressed deep concern over the effectiveness of medications in Nigeria, calling on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to intervene

In a post shared via her social media, Njoku questioned the quality of drugs sold across the country, describing her recent experience as both shocking and alarming.
She wrote:
“Nigerian medications are losing their potency!!!!!
What exactly are we being sold in Nigeria? What’s going on with our drugs?
Imagine taking medication, believing you’ll get better. And then dying from something completely treatable, simply because the drugs didn’t work.
Ha!!! NAFDAC HELP!!!”
According to her, she had suffered food poisoning while on a movie set and took a popular anti-diarrheal medication purchased from one of the country’s biggest pharmacy chains.
After three days of no relief, she took just one tablet of the same brand—this time brought in from abroad by her husband—and felt better within minutes.
