The police command in Ondo State has said the four suspects arrested at Akure airport are not ba.ndits but logistics suppliers to k!dnappers
Speaking on Monday, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal stated that those arrested are criminals and not ba.ndits. He made the remarks in Akure during a security show of force organized in response to the rise in cr!minal activities across the state in recent months.

“Let me quickly debunk that issue of four ba.ndits. We don’t have ba.ndits in Ondo State. We have cr!minals, not ba.ndits. Two suspected logistics suppliers to all those cr!minals and k!dnappers were arrested along the Eleyowo and Iluabo axes,” Lawal explained.
The clarification echoes a statement by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa earlier this month, asserting that ba.ndits have not been active in Ondo State since the 2022 Owo massacre.
Despite this, communities along the Akure Airport axis have continued to experience k!llings and k!dnappings, prompting protests from local youths over the persistent insecurity.
