In an interview with TVC, singer Blackface revealed that his former bandmate, 2Baba, declined to participate in his latest album, The Return, a revival of their iconic group Plantashun Boiz
The 51-year-old songwriter expressed his desire to reunite the band, but 2Baba’s unavailability led him to move forward without his former partner.
Blackface’s album features 18-19 tracks, including a collaboration with Faze, another former member of Plantashun Boiz.
He emphasized that he is not seeking financial gain or compensation but rather the recognition he deserves for his contributions to the music industry.
The singer’s comments come after Kennis Music CEO Kenny Ogunde corroborated Blackface’s claims about the controversy surrounding the African Queen track.
Blackface reiterated his desire for respect, stating that he has invested significant time and effort into his craft, paving the way for future generations of artists.
He said: “I just released the Plantashun Boiz album now called The Return and it has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze has a feature, but 2Baba is not on the album because he is not ready to be part of it. We already had the time to go to the studio, but they don’t want it. If somebody gives you the impression that he is not ready to do this anymore, do you keep waiting or move ahead? So I moved ahead.
I am not demanding anything, just my respect. I have put in so much work in this game for the people that are even benefiting from it today, for the young ones that came after. I put in a lot of work; you can’t just take me out.”
