Social advocate Harrison Gwamnishu has responded to appeals from Nigerians urging him to assist in the rescue of teachers and students recently abducted in Ogbomoso, Oyo state.
Addressing the requests, Gwamnishu explained that he cannot step into matters outside his state without a formal invitation from either the affected community or the state government.
“Before I can leave my state to intervene in any matter, the affected community or the State Government must formally write to me and extend an official invitation. I want to assure you that we have the technical capacity, expertise and proven track record to provide support in situations of this nature
Our past interventions have demonstrated our commitment and effectiveness in assisting communities facing security challenges. I kindly ask for your understanding, especially considering my experiences and challenges from last year. This procedure is necessary to protect me and ensure that all engagements are conducted properly while safeguarding against any unforeseen issues that may arise.”
He noted that the process is important for proper coordination and accountability, while also ensuring that any assistance provided follows the necessary procedures.
