The Lagos State Police Command has cleared Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, of any wrongdoing after a viral video showed him holding what many believed was a firearm
In a statement on Wednesday, police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi confirmed that Adefarasin voluntarily appeared at the command’s headquarters in Ikeja for questioning.

Investigations revealed that the object seen in the viral clip was a stun gun, not a firearm.
“After a thorough investigation, including interrogation and a cautionary statement from Pastor Adefarasin, it was established that the object in question was a stun gun and not a lethal weapon or firearm.
“Consequent to our findings, the Lagos State Police Command has determined that there are no sufficient grounds to proceed with the matter. The case is hereby discontinued,” the statement read.
The police reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and the rule of law while ensuring public safety.
This decision marks a shift from June, when Lagos Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh stated that pointing a stun gun at someone could constitute a criminal offence, as stun guns are classified as prohibited riot control equipment. He also said at the time that both Adefarasin and the other individual in the video would be questioned.
The clip, which went viral in June, showed the pastor sitting in a Range Rover while holding the device during an exchange. Adefarasin maintained that he never brandished a firearm and that the object was non-lethal.
