Factional Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdulrahman Mohammed, on Friday inaugurated a new Board of Trustees (BoT), describing it as a move to restore the party’s values and moral direction.
Mohammed said the previous BoT, led by Adolphus Wabara and Umar Damagum, had lost its effectiveness by protecting party leaders who violated rules, leaving the party divided and morally weakened.

Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, he said, “This new Board of Trustees is more than a statutory organ; it is a symbol of rebirth. It represents our commitment to returning the PDP to its moral center and ensuring it serves as the conscience and compass of the party.”
He added that the new board is tasked with guiding the PDP with courage, fairness, and impartiality. “This is not a reward for loyalty; it is a sacred trust. Members must speak truth to power, defend justice, and make sure the PDP remains a home for all Nigerians. Their actions must inspire confidence and unity.”
At the ceremony, Mao Ohabunwa was elected chairman of the new BoT, with Isah Dansidi appointed as secretary. The inauguration took place at the FCT Minister’s official residence in Abuja.
Mohammed said the creation of the new board is intended to correct past mistakes and strengthen the party’s commitment to justice, fairness, and the rule of law. “Under this new leadership, the PDP will no longer be held hostage by impunity or manipulation. We will rebuild public trust and make the PDP the moral voice of Nigeria’s democracy once again,” he said.
The new BoT is expected to guide the party in addressing internal disputes, restoring discipline, and reinforcing principles that prioritize equity and inclusivity.
