Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained the cuts on his nose and forehead following the team’s dramatic 3-3 draw with Feyenoord in the Champions League
The injuries were visible when Guardiola arrived at the Etihad Stadium for the match, and more scratches appeared on his forehead after watching his team squander a 3-0 lead.
The result means City have now gone six games without a win, marking their longest winless streak since Guardiola’s first season in charge eight years ago.
At a press conference, Guardiola revealed, “I cut it with my finger,” before humorously adding, “I want to hurt myself.”
City seemed on track for a comfortable victory after goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan put them 3-0 ahead early in the second half. However, poor defending allowed Feyenoord to score three times in the final 15 minutes, leaving Guardiola and his team stunned.
