Former Big Brother Naija housemate Pere Egbi has appealed to the Nigeria Immigration Service to deny South African singer Tyla and her team visas to enter Nigeria.
His call comes after Nigerian singer Ayra Starr’s scheduled show in South Africa was cancelled following reports that she and members of her team were allegedly denied visas just days before the event.
Reacting to the development, Pere argued that Nigeria should respond in the same way.
On his X, he wrote:
“Nigerian @nigimmigration we are collectively imploring you to intentionally deny Tyla and her team visas as well. They can’t do this to our own and we welcome their own. Madness must match madness.”
Pere also disagreed with activist Omoyele Sowore, who opposed calls for a boycott of Tyla’s planned concert in Nigeria.
Sowore had ealier said that the xenophobic att.acks Nigerians have experienced in some foreign countries should not be blamed on ordinary citizens.
According to him, the real issue is the failure of the President Bola Tinubu-led government to adequately protect Nigerians and defend their interests abroad.
Pere, however, maintained his position, insisting that Nigeria should respond firmly following the treatment Ayra Starr and her team allegedly received ahead of the cancelled South African show.
