Peter Obi has finally filed a N5 billion lawsuit against his former ally, Kenneth Okonkwo, over alleged defamatory remarks made against him
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) instituted the suit on Thursday at the Anambra State High Court in Onitsha.

Okonkwo, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), had alleged during an appearance on Channels Television that Obi extorted N10 million from House of Representatives aspirants in the NDC and manipulated the party’s primary election results.
Prior to filing the case, Obi had given Okonkwo seven days to withdraw the allegations, issue a public apology, and pay N5 billion in damages. The former Anambra State governor proceeded with legal action after the demands were reportedly not met.
