Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has once again made fresh remarks about former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, questioning his leadership style and character

In a new post online, Edochie said Peter Obi is “not a true Igbo man” and claimed he does not reflect what he described as the traditional Igbo spirit of “onye aghana nwanne ya” (do not leave your brother behind).

He argued that true Igbo leadership is rooted in lifting others, saying:

“The true spirit of Ndi Igbo is ‘onye aghana nwanne ya’. As you rise, you lift others.”

Edochie went further to question Obi’s record in business and public life, insisting that despite years of success, there is no visible testimony of people who rose through his influence or support.

“How can you spend many years in power, many years as a successful business man, yet nobody can say he’s successful today because of you?”

He contrasted this with his own career, claiming that some people in Nollywood can attribute their success to him, while alleging that no one can say the same about Peter Obi.

“Not one person can say that about Peter Obi.”

He also accused the former Anambra governor of failing to uplift those around him, saying leadership should reflect the ability to reduce poverty in one’s immediate environment before attempting to lead a nation.

“If you can’t lift people around you out of poverty, you simply can’t lift Nigeria out of poverty,” he added.

The remarks have since triggered mixed reactions online, with supporters and critics of both men engaging in heated debate across social media platforms.
