The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed the de.ath of Blessing Moshood, a 29-year-old Sociology graduate of Kogi State University, who was allegedly murdered and her body dumped in a canal in the Jikwoyi area of Abuja last Thursday night.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine, confirmed the incident to journalists after receiving a detailed account of the deceased’s last movements from her sister, Abigail Moshood.
According to Abigail, Blessing left their home around 8pm that night after receiving a phone call. She later called back about an hour later, saying she would briefly return home to pick up her phone charger, which she had forgotten.

The family became worried when she failed to return and could not be reached the following day.
Concerns escalated when reports emerged that a woman’s body had been found in a canal, with descriptions of the victim’s hairstyle matching that of Blessing.
“We later heard people talking about the body of a woman discovered inside a canal, and someone described the type of hairstyle the deceased had on, which matched my sister’s,” Abigail said.
She further explained that police officers from the Jikwoyi division had evacuated the body, which was discovered half-naked with only a top on, and deposited it at a mortuary in Mararaba, Nasarawa State.
Abigail added that her suspicions were later confirmed after she visited the Jikwoyi Police Station and was shown photographs of the recovered body, which she identified as her sister.
