Police uncover kidnapper’s den

Detectives from the Ondo State Police Command have uncovered a suspected kidnappers’ den hidden inside a bush in Epinmi Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area of the state

The hideout, described as a deep pit reinforced with iron bars, was found within an abandoned building following the arrest of two suspects — Idowu Arohunmolase (25) and Tosin Bada (26).

Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, confirmed the discovery in a statement released Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade.

According to the police, the breakthrough came after members of the Epinmi Vigilante Group provided credible intelligence, prompting the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Isua to mobilise a joint security team to apprehend the suspects.

The suspects led operatives to the isolated building, where the underground pit, believed to be used for holding kidnapped victims, was found.

Recovered items at the scene included two locally-made dane guns, four cutlasses, four axes, assorted charms, and other dangerous weapons.
