The Presidency has threatened to prosecute activist VeryDarkMan, over an alleged AI-generated audio recording attributed to President Tinubu
The controversial audiocontains a series of explosive and unverified statements supposedly made by the President, including claims about the 2023 election, political pressure, insecurity in Nigeria, borrowing from international institutions, and alleged remarks involving opposition figures.

The audio: “They are trying to take me out from the position but it’s not possible i mind you i’m winning this election i don’t care whatever is happening nigeria deserves it because when i was running as a president they didn’t wanted me now all of a sudden they want me to rescue them from insecurity As of last week, I called Peter Ubi to step down for me, but he refused.
“Now, I’m not begging him again. I will be whatsoever in my mind, and I will make sure the insecurity affects people in Southeast more. Listen, I am going to borrow more and more and more money from World Bank. Try to understand me.
“I wouldn’t like to stop this insecurity, because if I do, how will our party be able to raise funds to win elections? Think about it. Even the loans I’m taking is to fund them. Also, I have a plan after I’m done with my position as a president.”, it concludes.
The recording has many questioning its authenticity.
Reacting to the development, Presidential aide on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, condemned the circulation of the audio and called for VDM to be prosecuted over his alleged role in sharing it.
The Presidency insists the audio is fake and describes its circulation as dangerous misinformation capable of misleading the public and undermining trust in official communication.
“This VDM needs to face the weight of the law for being the conveyor and disseminator of a fake audio of President Tinubu. This is a clear case of an egregious abuse of the social media platform,” Onanuga said.
