First Lady Remi Tinubu has urged friends, well-wishers, and admirers to channel their goodwill for her upcoming 65th birthday into contributions toward completing the long-delayed National Library project
In a video message released on Monday, Mrs. Tinubu said she would mark her birthday on Sunday, September 21, 2025, with quiet reflection and thanksgiving to God, appealing to supporters to forgo the usual cards, cakes, flowers, or newspaper greetings.

She said, “I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers, or gifts to kindly redirect the funds to a special project close to my heart—among many others, the completion of the National Library. This will be the best birthday present I could receive.”
The First Lady explained that her lifelong passion for education guided her decision, highlighting that the project represents a critical investment in Nigeria’s intellectual and cultural development.
The initiative will be coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Education under the banner #Oluremi@65EducationFund.
“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 on Sunday, September 21, 2025, and I have decided to dedicate the day to God in gratitude for all His blessings in my life,” she added.
Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that education is one of the most enduring legacies a nation can leave for its people, noting that the completed National Library will stand as a lasting symbol of Nigeria’s commitment to learning and research.
She concluded by thanking Nigerians for their support: “Thank you for joining me in this building project. God bless you.”
