Reno Omokri has drawn attention online following his comments about petrol prices in England and their link to global developments.
In his statement, he said, “Petrol is now ₦3,200 per litre in England, almost three times what we pay in Nigeria. Price increases are a global issue caused by the Middle East crisis.” He directly compared the reported cost in England to Nigeria, stating that the UK price is significantly higher.
The claim, especially the figure quoted for petrol in England, has triggered mixed reactions across the Internet. While some users pointed to his reference to global pressures on fuel prices, others questioned the comparison and the accuracy of the amount stated.
His remarks come at a time when fuel prices remain a key issue in several countries, most especially in Nigeria, where a litre of petrol has increased to ₦1,350. The changes are often linked to movements in the international oil market and geopolitical tensions.
By mentioning the Middle East, Omokri referred to a region frequently linked to shifts in global oil supply.
The statement has also drawn attention to differences in how petrol prices are set across countries, including the role of taxes, subsidies and exchange rates, which can affect direct comparisons.
