Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has advised women against returning to marriages they’ve already left.
She shared this advice on Instagram, responding to a video where a woman opened up about the mental abuse she experienced in her marriage.
In her post, Edochie wrote: “YOU ARE TIRED ALREADY WITH TWO KIDS? WAAAOOO… ANYWAY, A TOXIC MARRIAGE IS SYNONYMOUS TO MODERN SLAVERY. AT SOME POINT, WHILE SEEING THIS VIDEO, I WAS ABOUT TEARING UP BUT QUICKLY REALISED IT’S HIGH TIME WOMEN STOOD UP FOR THEMSELVES.”
This is the second time in six months that Edochie has spoken out on this issue, encouraging women to leave toxic marriages.
She continued, “ANY MAN WHO CALLS HIS WIFE NAMES… IS NOTHING BUT AN IRRESPONSIBLE SP£RM DONOR. LIKE HOW DO YOU BODY SHAME A WOMAN WHOSE BODY YOU PRACTICALLY KICKED OUT OF SHAPE?”
Edochie emphasized the importance of self-respect and urged women to stand up against such treatment.
