The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Works, Barinada Mpigi, has d!ed at the age of 64
His passing was confirmed on Thursday by close sources, though the cause of de.ath has not been disclosed. The news has sent shockwaves through the National Assembly and political circles in Rivers State.

Mpigi represented the Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the Senate until his death and was known for his outspoken advocacy on infrastructure development and security issues in the Niger Delta.
Born on June 23, 1961, Mpigi began his political career in the House of Representatives in 2011, serving two terms after winning re-election in 2016. In 2019, he transitioned to the Senate on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, marking a major milestone in his legislative career.
During the Ninth Assembly, he was appointed chairman of a special joint Senate committee investigating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, placing him at the forefront of national efforts to combat economic sabotage and protect oil revenues.
