Former President Muhammadu Buhari has claimed that Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly during his eight-year tenure
Speaking on Wednesday while receiving members of the Katsina State Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists at his country home in Daura, Buhari stated that he inherited economic and security challenges from the Peoples Democratic Party, which governed for 16 years.
He asserted that his administration effectively tackled these issues, curbing terrorism and economic hardship.
“Nigeria’s security and economy improved significantly under my administration compared to what we met in 2015. Things will continue to improve in Nigeria,” Buhari said.
The former president also acknowledged the complexities of governance, noting that only those in power fully understand the challenges.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Yusuf Ibrahim-Jargaba, praised Buhari’s efforts in combating terrorism, banditry, and other security threats. He also commended Buhari’s dedication and selfless service, which he credited for helping to maintain national unity.
